DJ’s

Headliner: Phil Kieran

Its official , Phil Kieran is a main contributor to Global Warming.  He‘s been raising temperatures in the World's biggest and most revered clubs for 7 years now, emitting a toxic mix of Techno, House and Electro.  This year’s DJ Magazine Top 100 DJ poll 2006, showed a meteoric rise for Phil to number 35, forecasting a change in climate for Phil in 2007.

A Phil Kieran production is always instantly recognisable as his own.  Sure to deliver a dose of head-imploding basslines, skiffling glitches and an injection of razor sharp electronics.  This Phil-ly treatment was evident on three recent remixes of the Motor track ‘1X1’ (Novamute), and on previous hits ‘Murderous’ Nitzer Ebb; ‘La 11’eme Marche’ Agoria , ‘Passion Cocktail’ Marco Bailey and ‘Blitzkreig Pop’ T. Raumschmiere.

Kieran has teamed up with Funk D’Void, releasing three 12” singles, ‘White Lice‘, ‘Worm of Mouth’ and ‘Tick Tick Tick’ , and as yet unreleased ‘Whitehead/ Blackhead’ (Soma Recordings).  As infectious as the names suggest, the collaboration combines acid-house nostalgia with flinty, broken-beats. Minimal, dark and glitchy, the 12”s were bestsellers on Beatport and the duo are scheduled to release an album together on Soma, followed by a Ministry of Sound, Sessions DJ Mix.

The ‘Skyhook EP' and an exclusive bonus track available on Beatport, out early 2007 are already rating highly on various DJ charts.  ‘Sau Paulo’ (Electrix) and ‘Triple Crown’ on Lee Van Dowski’s minimal label, Num, showcase Phil’s ability to nail top productions in almost every genre of underground electronica.  Felix da Housecat’s crossover label, Rude Photo, has signed Phil for a debut LP, with singles ‘Awe’ and ‘I think I’m a monster’ scheduled as first releases before Spring.

All this activity is a rude awakening from a three year studio lockdown, during which his band Alloy Mental have been compiling material for the forthcoming album.
An incisive call to arms, every track merges enigmatic and defiant vocals with tight beats and electronics, all tied together with melancholic guitar riffs.  Their sound echoes each band members own musical upbringing whilst maintaining a tight footing on the outer edges of dance music.

Their angry live acts have already recruited legions of fans.  One critic struggled to define the experience: ‘is this dance music that rocks or punk music you can dance to’.  Whichever, the act appeals to diverse audiences, having already performed live on Annie Mac's Radio 1 show and at festivals including Carl Cox & Friends @ Global Gathering and Sonar (Barcelona).  Unanimously, the bands proudest moment so far has been providing UK support to personal heroes, New Order in July 2006.

The first release ’Alloy Mental’ (Skint) caused a sensation, with International DJ’s grappling to be first to break the new sound in clubs around the world.  Indie clubs, techno clubs, house clubs - all destroyed.  Back home Radio 1 DJs Zane Lowe and Annie Mac playlisted it constantly, while they have already made their televisual bow on their hometown BBC ATL TV programme.  The super-confident debut album has just been mastered and is due for release early 2007 on Skint Records.
